Castello di Verrazzano

Built in the 7th century and owned by the Cappellini family since 1958, the Castle is the birthplace of the explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, who discovered the New York Bay. Viticultural activity has been documented since 1150; its wines both DOCG Chianti Classico and IGT Toscana reflect its history and terroir. At the heart of the estate (230 hectares, with 52 hectares of vineyards, within the same boundaries for 1000 years) stands the historic residence, dominated by a stone tower and surrounded by Renaissance gardens, offering a panoramic view of the Val di Greve. Since 2014 Castello di Verrazzano is certified organic.
