NONNO MATTEO IGP TERRE DEGLI OSCI
THE WINE
Nonno Matteo represents a structured and evolved interpretation of the Montepulciano grape. Maturation for 12 months in second-passage oak barriques significantly enriches its aromatic profile and meticulously smooths the tannic texture through a process of slow micro-oxygenation. The careful use of seasoned oak ensures the fruit's authentic identity is preserved, avoiding any overpowering toasted notes. In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby red color, elegantly accented by slight garnet highlights on the rim. The bouquet is intense and complex, offering rich notes of ripe red fruit and jam, such as black cherry and sour cherry, beautifully interwoven with elegant spicy hints of black pepper and liquorice, along with subtle vanilla nuances from the oak. On the palate, it is structured, warm, and enveloping. The tannins are dense yet expertly polished by the ageing process, leading to a full-bodied mouthfeel and a remarkably long finish that beautifully echoes the spices perceived on the nose.AGRONOMIC PROFILE
